The Garmin GPS V DELUXE is one versatile navigator that delivers automatic
routing, detailed mapping and WAAS
accuracy capability — all in a compact handheld GPS. The Garmin GPS V
DELUXE comes with the MapSource North America City Select v7 DVD, which gives
you access to detailed street-level maps with locations of restaurants,
hotels and other services. Use the Garmin GPS V DELUXE to look up a
location and it will automatically calculate a route and guide you to your
destination with turn-by-turn directions and audible beeps that alert you
to upcoming turns. You can even switch the display from horizontal,
for mounting on a bike or a vehicle dash, to vertical for handheld use.
The Garmin GPS V DELUXE supports the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS)
differential GPS corrections through a system of ground stations and
geosyncronous satellites. Without any additional equipment or fees, the
Garmin eTrex Legend GPS uses WAAS to realize position accuracy of
better than 9 feet, 95% of the time (typical)*.
*WAAS is available in Americas only. Accuracy
may be degraded when view of the horizon is obstructed by trees or
mountains.

Only a portion of the City Select map data can be loaded into the GPS V
Deluxe 19 MB internal memory. The North America City Select DVD contain
over 1,600 MB of map data. Download City Select maps sets
only for the areas you plan to access local streets in. The GPS V
Deluxe's built-in basemap
provides routable Interstate (including Interstate Exit Services
information) and primary highway information between these areas.
DVD contains 1,059 maps,
"average*" map size 1.55 MB, 1,646 MB total
*Individual map sizes can vary greatly from
"average" map size.
System Requirements: PC compatible computer with
available 9-pin serial port, Pentium processor
with Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, Windows ME;
32MB RAM minimum; between 300 MB and 1.5GB free hard disk space; DVD drive; 256 color display adapter and monitor (24 bit

MapSource™ CDs & DVDs provide high level detail
of roads, recreational areas, coastlines, navaids, lakes, boat ramps,
topography and more. A PC Interface cable is enclosed with each GPS V
DELUXE to allow you to download MapSource™ CD and DVD Data between your PC and
GPS V DELUXE. MapSource™ software also allows you to view color
maps on a personal computer, with zoom and pan functions for easy map
browsing. Users can then select individual maps in areas of interest and
transfer the maps to the GPS V DELUXE or other compatible GPS.
Think of MapSource™ as an atlas that
contains many smaller maps. By choosing several of these maps, you
can make a map set. This map set can then be transferred to your
GARMIN GPS, which allows you to tailor the map detail for the geographic
areas you wish to view. For instance, if you are planning a trip by car,
your map set might only need to include those maps that are along your
intended driving route. MapSource gives you the flexibility to choose the
extent of the mapping coverage.
Use the trip and waypoint manager functions
to create waypoints, routes, and tracks, and transfer them between your
GARMIN GPS and your PC. This is excellent for planning your next outdoor
adventure, business trip, vacation, or recreational outing without ever
leaving your house.
