The Garmin GPSMAP 176C is a 12 parallel channel, WAAS-enabled (position accuracy of better than three meters, 95 percent of the time) GPS receivers with an extra-large color display that makes keeping your eye on the map easy. With the Garmin GPSMAP 176C you get a 16 color transflective display that measures 3.80 inches diagonal and delivers a crisp picture thanks to a pixel count of 320 x 240. Unlike most displays the transflective display is viewable form the light it emits in low light conditions and from the light reflected from the display in direct sunlight. You'll have the best view of all the map detail in any lighting condition.

On the inside, the GPSMAP 176C come equipped with a built-in worldwide basemap and tide data for the United States. For the mariner the unit can accept downloadable information from GARMIN's optional MapSource BlueChart™* marine cartography, that provides additional offshore map detail*. The cartography includes detailed depth contours, inter-tidal zones, spot soundings, wrecks, navaids, port plans, restricted areas, cable areas, anchorages and much more. For use in a car, the GPSMAP 176C can accept downloadable information from GARMIN's optional MapSource MetroGuide U.S.A. CD-ROM* for address level city street detail. A special mounting bracket is available that will allow the Garmin GPSMAP 176C to be easily moved to the car.

With the Garmin GPSMAP 176C, you'll get a clear picture of where you are and where you're going. This chartplotter takes up a small footprint, yet features a large, 16-color transflective screen. The Garmin GPSMAP 176C offers excellent map detail and accepts additional data from MapSource CD-ROMs* including BlueChart* marine cartography and MetroGuide* for address level city street detail.

MapSource™ CDs provide high level detail of roads, recreational areas, coastlines, navaids, lakes, boat ramps, topography and more. A PC Interface cable is enclosed with each GPSMAP 176C to allow you to download MapSource™ CD Data between your PC and GPSMAP 176C. MapSource™ software also allows you to view color maps on a personal computer, with zoom and pan functions for easy map browsing. Users can then select individual maps in areas of interest and transfer the maps to the StreetPilot ColorMap or other compatible GPS.

Think of MapSource™ as an atlas that contains many smaller maps. By choosing several of these maps, you can make a map set. This map set can then be transferred to your GARMIN GPS, which allows you to tailor the map detail for the geographic areas you wish to view. For instance, if you are planning a trip by car, your map set might only need to include those maps that are along your intended driving route. MapSource gives you the flexibility to choose the extent of the mapping coverage.

Use the trip and waypoint manager functions to create waypoints, routes, and tracks, and transfer them between your GARMIN GPS and your PC. This is excellent for planning your next outdoor adventure, business trip, vacation, or recreational outing without ever leaving your house.
