With the eTrex Legend GPS, GARMIN has loaded a full basemap of North and South America into one small unit.
The basemap contains lakes, rivers, cities, interstates, national and state highways, railroads and coastlines. The Garmin eTrex Legend GPS is also equipped with additional memory totaling eight megabytes. The added memory allows the Garmin eTrex Legend GPS to accept downloaded map data from GARMIN's line of MapSource® CD-ROMs. The Garmin eTrex Legend GPS comes in a brightly-colored translucent blue case that really makes the unit stand out. New to the product design, GARMIN has included marine aids to navigation in addition to the basemap. These navigational aids are pre-loaded into each unit from the factory. The Garmin eTrex Legend GPS supports the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) differential GPS corrections through a system of ground stations and geosyncronous satellites. Without any additional equipment or fees, the Garmin eTrex Legend GPS uses WAAS to realize position accuracy of better than 9 feet, 95% of the time (typical)*.
*WAAS is available in Americas only. Accuracy may be degraded when view of the horizon is obstructed by trees or mountains.
